My Mum came to visit recently, so naturally I tried making some boot shaped wet felted slippers for her!
As with my last slippers they are merino inner and finn outer. These ones are embellished with merino multicoloured pencil roving and multicoloured silk throwsters waste.
Here they are:
I have just edited my tutorial regarding this, but if you’re making your own be aware that if you want the slippers to fit further up your legs than the ones pictured, be generous in your allowance for width shrinkage.

These look waaaaarm! Fantastic! I’ve been meaning to make some slipers. There is always something else that gets in the middle of the way (like work, custom orders..ahhahahaa the things that allow me to buy more wool! ).
Will bookmark your blog!

Funnily enough she mentioned just today how toasty warm they are 🙂 I know what you mean, I don’t get nearly enough time to felt either!
Have fun making your slippers – contact me here on on the community if you have any questions about the slippers xx

Hi there
I seem to have forgotten that I had already commented in a similar vein previously – to much enthusiasm and a poor memory!
I have made my first slippers and will be putting them on my blog later today. Followed your steps and it worked a treat – although I did cheat a bit when they were half felted. I put them separately into plastic bags, securely closed and placed in the dryer on hot for twenty/thirty mins. Saved alot of rolling. 😉

Wow you are so brave using the dryer. I’m too much of a control freak to even try it – although my back probably would thank me!!!
We’re they malleable enough to shape around your feet afterwards? I’m guessing a lot of soapy water would need adding for this stage.
Your slippers are lovely Ros. I’ve added a link to your blog.

Thank you. I need to experiment a lot more. The dryer idea was told to me by a very experienced felter who makes a lot of slippers. There is no way I would have tried it otherwise. Still – it took a bit of bravery and I had to keep telling myself that the world would not end if it did not work out! Fear tends to try to stop me doing stuff and I really have to fight against it. 😉
Thanks for adding the link – I will add yours to mine.
We are moving to Wales in three months time and I am looking forward to finding out where to get hold of felting materials and trying the different wools. 🙂

Ooo lucky you! Wales (and Scotland) seem much better than the rest of the UK for felting related loveliness! And of course the wonderwool show is held there…you might just get there in time for it – would wholeheartedly recommend going 🙂
Good luck with your further experiments – if you need any help just ask. I will definitely have to try the dryer out when I get the confidence 😉
