This has nothing to do with felt, but I made an animation (which my boyfriend kindly uploaded for me):

Would have been much easier/better if I could use photoshop but it was fun to do. Have a go if you’ve a few hours to waste!

I’ve spent all night (and my back) on my latest project – new slippers for me πŸ™‚

They are made using dark purple merino tops and red and purple carded Finn. There are 7 or 8 layers. To be honest I lost count amid all the rubbing and rolling and laying.

I added a little purple silk top and orange/red Wensleydale to the final layer to add a bit of interest…watch this space for photos.

Wow, Ally Pally was certainly an exhausting day out!

We started out at 6am this morning, drove into London, confused the sat-nav, shopped for 7 hours straight (bar the odd tea break), drove back through some VERY busy London traffic and then got home! Hey, I’m tired so won’t even try to be eloquent. πŸ˜›

It was a great day and I’m so glad I went as I’ve wanted to for ages, but I was decidedly disappointed with the lack of felt making supplies on offer. I did come back with a few lovely bits and bobs, and huge amounts of encouragement and inspiration though, which I will show you just as soon as I find the charger for the camera!

Anyway, I’m blimmin knackered now so night night πŸ™‚

Update: I’ve been busy working for the past 20 hours, but will dig for the charger tomorrow. I’ll also upload the photo of the felted soap if I remember!

I’ve stumbled upon a felt making video that is something else! It shows some really unusual ways to make wet felted hats and slippers (ways I probably wouldn’t have though of!) and also features some stunning felt work nearer the end. Definitely worth a watch (if you’re pressed for time, skip to about 2 mins 30 sec for the felt making action!

Can someone tell me what on earth that woman with the long hair is trying to say (?) towards the end though? Maybe it’s just all the excitement?!

I’ve just got round to scanning in my doodles for the blog custom header. What you can see at the top of the page is the result of quite a few hours worth of fiddling about on Photoshop…what do you think?

I’m still not convinced about the background but am pretty happy with the way the text turned out πŸ™‚

Update: I’ve now added the dotty pictures to the banner (for those that didn’t see it was previously just the plain purple felt behind the text).

Hi All!

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, it’s been a bit of a blur of working and being ill. I did make a birdy for the international day of felt so will post that soon.

Hope you’re all good, take care (there are lots of bugs going round at the moment!)

Well I’ve just joined this community, which I’ve unfortunately not had much of a chance to look at yet (damn night shifts getting in my way πŸ™‚ ). I am very excited about it though, I’ve been looking for a felt making community and have only just stumbled across this now that I am more active in looking at peoples blogs and work. It has already got me some feedback on my fish, which is very encouraging because as a newbie to felt making I really appreciate all the feedback and advice I can get πŸ™‚

I should also mention that the merino used in theΒ  Tea Cosy and the purple side of my last bag were bought at fibrefest from Sara (of Sara’s Texture Crafts!).

She had a beautiful selection, it took me ages to choose the colours! I also got a batt which I used to make a felted soap (I still have some left) which I intend to post soon. It looks like this:

Sarahs Texture Crafts Blackberry Bush stripe Batt.

Hope you’re all feeling good! Bye for now x
